Our Work
Turning healthier, more inclusive and sustainable living into practical change.
HILA works across education, advocacy, research, building, development, community, public campaigns and direct help. Each area supports the same goal: improving the places where people live, work, learn and gather.
01Education
Knowledge that helps people make better choices.
HILA makes healthier, more inclusive and sustainable living easier to understand and apply. Our education work turns evidence, design principles and lived experience into practical knowledge for individuals, professionals, organisations and communities.

Education across HILA
- practical guidance for healthier homes and everyday environments
- learning for workplaces, schools and community settings
- professional education for people shaping the built environment
- public talks, events and community learning
- accessible resources that translate evidence into action
Learning through HILA
HILA brings together public education, practical resources and professional learning so people can act on healthier, more inclusive and sustainable principles.
Public learning
Accessible guides, articles, talks and resources that help people understand the places they live, work, learn and gather.
Professional learning
Education for designers, builders, property professionals, organisations and others who influence the built environment.
Collaborative education
Selected courses and specialist resources are developed with expert collaborators, including The Healthy Building Designer. Where a course or product is delivered by a separate provider, the provider and payment recipient are clearly identified.
We do more than share information. We turn evidence into practical choices people can use.

06Relief & Pathways
A direct-help pathway designed to grow responsibly.
HILA’s direct-help work starts with partnerships, volunteering and practical support through established organisations. As the legal structure, funding and delivery capacity grow, the pathway expands into pilot programs and, ultimately, HILA-led housing, recovery and independence initiatives.

Now
- partner with established organisations
- volunteer and contribute professional expertise
- identify communities and unmet needs
Next
- fund clearly defined pilot projects once fundraising legally opens
- set transparent budgets and eligibility criteria
- evaluate outcomes before programs grow
Future
- develop HILA-led housing pathways
- build recovery and reintegration programs with qualified providers
- create long-term independence and community models
Housing, recovery and international relief programs are future directions, not current HILA services.
