Privacy Policy
Draft prepared October 2026. This document is not final and will be reviewed before HILA's website is published.
1. About this policy
This policy explains how the Healthy & Inclusive Living Alliance ("HILA", "we") handles personal information. We handle personal information consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). HILA's legal entity and contact details will be confirmed before publication.
2. Information we collect
We collect information you choose to give us — such as your name, email address, phone number, postcode, state or territory, organisation, role, interests and messages — along with technical information like browser type and pages visited.
3. Website forms
Each form collects only what it needs. Submissions are stored securely and are not visible to other website visitors. Please don't include health, medical or disability information in our forms.
4. Mailing list
If you join our supporter mailing list, we record your consent, the time it was given and the version of the consent wording. Joining the mailing list does not make you a member of HILA.
5. Membership applications
Membership forms are currently expressions of interest only. We use them to understand interest and to contact you once membership arrangements are confirmed.
6. Partner and contact enquiries
We use enquiry details to respond to you and to discuss collaboration.
7. Future payment data
HILA does not currently accept payments. If payments open in future, card details will be processed by a third-party payment provider and not stored by HILA. We would receive limited transaction information such as amount, date and receipt details.
8. Why we collect information
To respond to enquiries, manage our mailing list, assess expressions of interest, plan programs and improve our website.
9. Consent and direct marketing
We only send marketing emails if you have actively opted in. Consent boxes are never pre-ticked, and marketing consent is always separate from any other enquiry.
10. Unsubscribing
Every marketing email will include an unsubscribe option. You can also contact us to withdraw consent at any time.
11. Storage and security
Information is stored with reputable cloud service providers using access controls and encryption in transit. Only authorised people will have access.
12. Service providers and overseas processing
We use service providers for website hosting, data storage and, in future, email delivery and payments. Some may store or process data outside Australia. We will identify the relevant providers and countries before publication.
13. Sensitive information
We only collect sensitive information (such as health information) when genuinely necessary and with your express consent. Our public forms are not designed to collect it.
14. Cookies and analytics
Our website may use essential cookies and privacy-conscious analytics to understand how it is used. We will describe any analytics tools before publication.
15. Access and correction
You can ask to access or correct personal information we hold about you.
16. Complaints and contact
If you have a privacy concern, please contact us first via the Contact page and we will respond within a reasonable time. If you're not satisfied, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).
